Bridie Nancy (Brigitte Anderssen) is an Australian performing artist ; actor, singer-songwriter and guitarist ; working across music, theatre, screen and voice. Her creative life has been shaped by formative years in Australia, London and Paris, and by a commitment to storytelling with meaning, integrity and emotional truth.
As a musician she performs original folk/rock material and select covers, creating warm, audience-facing sets that invite connection (including sing-along moments when the room calls for it). She also draws on French language and cultural heritage where relevant ; including performing classic French repertoire (e.g., chanson) and Shakespeare monologues in French.
As an actor she brings a grounded, psychologically literate approach informed by both conservatory-style training and long experience in people-centred professional settings. Her interests include contemporary performance, voice work, and socially engaged theatre ; with an enduring curiosity about the socio-cultural and political ideas that shape art-making (including traditions such as political theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed).
Bridie’s earlier career as a social worker contributes a distinct lens: An awareness of how systems, culture and power shape people’s lives, and how storytelling can support dignity, agency and connection. In recent postgraduate study, she explored trauma-informed considerations for actor training in a final research essay, with an emphasis on wellbeing and ethical practice in rehearsal and learning environments.
